Sending data to another phone, paying without contact (and even without a credit card in a shop thanks to your smartphone), or passing through the security barrier in the metro with a single gesture: today, all these gestures have become harmless thanks to NFC technology.
NFC (for Near Field Communication) now equips most smartphones on the market, and it could well revolutionise the interactivity of your shop window. We explain in the following lines.
The way NFC works is very simple: two devices (smartphone, payment terminal, credit card) need only be equipped with a chip of this technology in order to exchange information with each other. NFC can also be used for pairing with a Bluetooth-enabled device, which will speed up the operation.
Today, NFC is everywhere: in almost every credit card on the market (contactless payment: it's NFC), or in public transport (Navigo, for example).
It is even possible to create and place NFC tags around you in order to activate a specific function of your smartphone with a single gesture, such as activating the aeroplane mode when you go to bed (the NFC tag will then be placed on your bedside table).
In short, the possibilities of NFC seem limitless and depend only on the imagination of its users. But how do you leverage this technology in the dynamic, connected storefront?
"HOW TO USE NFC AS PART OF A DYNAMIC SHOWCASE?"
Thanks to NFC, it will be possible to send a lot of useful information to your (future) customer's smartphone through your shop window. A real estate agency will be able to create several NFC tags and place them in different places in the window, which will allow the passer-by :
- take control of the screen to enter their search criteria
- retrieve the property sheet for sale or rent
- be redirected to the agency's Facebook or Instagram page
- retrieve the agency's virtual business card
- or simply ask to be contacted again
Thanks to NFC, it will be possible to send a lot of useful information to your (future) client's smartphone through your shop window.
Even if you are not present, it will still be possible to distribute information to your potential customers. That means additional opportunities to rent or sell your properties!
